June 21st saw the celebration of the 10th International Day of Yoga, celebrated all across the world. 2024’s International Day of Yoga theme was ‘Yoga for Self and Society’, focusing on the harmony of mind and body with a holistic approach to health and wellbeing.
The event was commemorated by several in India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself led yoga exercises in Srinagar, stating that the world was looking at yoga as a source for good in the world. President Draupadi Murmu too took part in a yoga session at Rashtrapati Bhawan. Internationally, countries far and wide, including the United States of America, Ireland, and Malaysia, have had massive public showcases of yoga, demonstrating the reach the wellness practice has in the world.
The spa industry in India has long embraced yoga as a practice for health and wellness. Hyatt Hotels launched the #WellnessAtHyatt campaign to celebrate International Yoga Day. Meanwhile, in Delhi, the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India, in collaboration with the Ministry of Ayush and the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, celebrated yoga in a joint event. Additionally, ITC Hotels across India offered a range of activities and workshop to teach and practice yoga at its locations.
