According to a Justdial report, there has been a considerable increase in demand for beauty and wellness in Tier II cities in India mainly due to the modernisation of lifestyles. Many people are giving more importance to self-care and are using beauty and personal care services like barber shops, salons, spas, zumba classes, nutritionists, and others.

As per the report, non-metro cities like Ernakulam saw a 46% annual hike in beauty goers, while Surat saw a 29% increase, Patna 27% and Jaipur 26%. This trend is also attributed to the increase in disposable income of middle class population in the cities that they are using for physical grooming and wellbeing. Other cities like Kozhikode saw 50% hike, Meerut (33%), Palakkad (29%), Bhubaneshwar (27%), and Jhansi (25%). Amongst the metros, Bengaluru was the top contender at 22%, Chennai 19%, Hyderabad 18% and Pune 15%. On the whole, there was a 14% rise in searches for Beauty and Personal Care segment on portals like Justdial.
