There has been advancement in the beauty industry with the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI). Beauty brands have innovated over time, making them technologically advanced. There has been a rise in virtual makeup testing services since the pandemic to enhance the online shopping experience, but now it has become a way to offer personalized experience even in retail beauty stores. Initially, these innovations were limited to the female beauty market, but now AI seems to be making its way into the male grooming industry too. According to Persistence Market Research report, the men’s skincare demand has risen by 5.7% between 2017 and 2022 in the global arena and it is expected to increase at a CAGR of 7.5% by 2033.
Bulldog, a well-known men’s skincare brand, is offering personalisation with its Skin Advisor, an artificial intelligence-based tool that offers men customised skincare suggestions. This tool is easy to use with users only having to register online and answer a few questions about their skin type, needs and their location. After receiving these details, the AI tool gives a complete skin diagnosis and offers a personalised skincare routine.
Among other brands to launch similar tools is Phillips with GroomTribe, an application for beard grooming. It lets people test various beard styles and get shaving advice. Biotherm too has announced the launch of a skin diagnostic tool called SkinDiag.
