From hydrafacials to focused acne treatments – Get brides glowing flawlessly with StyleSpeak’s round-up of skincare treatments
With the wedding season in full swing, salons are buzzing with brides-to-be seeking the perfect glow. But a flawless complexion isn’t just about makeup; it’s about a healthy, radiant base. That’s where skincare treatments come in.StyleSpeak spoke to Smita Deo, Founder of Blaze Beauty Salon & Academy and Education in-charge, Association of Beauty Therapy Cosmetology India (ABTC), to find out all about the skincare regime and treatments that brides-to-be should follow to look their glowing best on their big day.
Prepping the Skin
It is important to start prepping the skin before the wedding day to look radiant. As a beauty professional and aesthetician, you must guide your clients by creating a skincare regime a few months before the wedding.
Proper skincare regime should start about 2-3 months prior, to take care of both internal and external factors affecting the skin. “A good diet rich in fibre, plenty of water for hydration, and frequent meals to avoid acidity are necessary. They play an important role in improving the skin from the inside. Besides these, brides-to-be might also need skin supplements to boost vitamin C & A levels for the added glow.”
“Since the wedding season is usually in the winter, it is pivotal to use hydrating products to prevent the skin from drying up. It should include a hydrating cream, mask, night cream, and good sunscreen during the day. Products with hyaluronic acid and glutathione are good for the skin, too,” Smita adds.
Skincare Treatments to the Rescue
Once the internal work has started, it is time to treat the skin externally. Skincare treatments are the secret weapon in your arsenal that can transform dull, tired skin into a radiant one, giving it a wedding-ready glow. Some brides might need focused treatments for hyperpigmentation, acne, under-eye patches, etc, while others might just need a boost to give them a beautiful glow.
Smita recommends the following
Hydrafacials – The ultimate bridal glow booster
These multi-step treatments cleanse, extract, and hydrate the skin, leaving it feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Hydrafacial infuses the skin with a hydrating serum, leaving it plump and hydrated. This is especially important for brides who want their skin to look radiant on their big day. “The best part is that these facials can be customised to address specific skin concerns, such as acne, hyperpigmentation, or fine lines. For instance, you can add microneedling to the facial to increase collagen production for brides older than 32 years as the natural process of producing collagen reduces with age”, adds Smita.
Glutathione Facials – Anti – pigmentation superhero
Glutathione facials have become popular for brides seeking a radiant and glowing complexion. This antioxidant powerhouse is known for its ability to brighten and even out skin tone. Smita adds, “It is used for those with pigmentation issues as the molecular property of the serum is much lesser than the pores, so it can easily go deep inside the skin, making it effective. We use glutathione serum after the cleansing process through high-frequency or electroporation, a penetrative machine treatment, along with a proper massage with the serum to ensure that it goes into the deeper layers of the skin. Besides these treatments, Charcoal facials with laser treatments are also effective for pigmentation.”
Microdermabrasion treatment – The perfect bridal glow-up
Microdermabrasion is one of the best treatments for brighter and more vibrant skin. It smoothens fine lines, wrinkles, and enlarged pores. It uses a gentle vacuum to polish and exfoliate the skin, which helps with the skin’s lymphatic drainage. Multiple sessions of this treatment yield best results.
Chemical Peels – A skin reset
Chemical peels use a chemical solution to exfoliate the top layer of skin, revealing a smoother, brighter complexion. They’re perfect for issues like acne scars, fine lines, or uneven skin tone. Depending on the skin issues, different types of peels, from gentle to intense are used. It’s best to customise the peel according to the skin condition.
Besides these, Smita suggests targeted acne treatments for those suffering from pus filled, painful acne and blemishes. These treatments use Salicylic acid and Sulphur to reduce sebaceous gland activity. She adds, “Remember not to do long massages in these facial treatments as it would increase sebaceous glands again. Along with the treatment, it is necessary to see a dermatologist to treat the acne infection.”
