Simone Tata passed away on the morning of 5 December at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai following a brief illness. She was 95. Widely regarded as a trailblazer in India’s beauty and fashion industries, she played a defining role in building Lakmé into the country’s most iconic cosmetic brand and laid the foundation for modern fashion retail through the Westside chain.
Beyond business, she remained deeply committed to social causes, guiding and supporting the work of several philanthropic institutions, including the Sir Ratan Tata Institute. Stylespeak pays its deepest respects to Simone Tata and extends heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones.
Last respects will be paid on 6th December 2025 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at the Cathedral of the Holy Name Church, Colaba, followed by a mass at 11:00 am.
