Dr. Rekha Chaudhari, founder of World Digital Detox Day, an endeavour focused on limiting technology for a day for mental health, received the Global Peace Award during The Global Peace Hospitality Awards, in Dubai on 9 October. The event is organised by the Global Peace Institute (UK) in partnership with Impact Hub UAE and pays tribute to those visionaries dedicated towards a more peaceful, purposeful world.
Started as a day of awareness, but as popularity and participation grew, Detox Day ballooned into the world’s largest digital wellness and peace movement-drawing participation from 7.5 million people across 78 countries. The endeavour initially started as a quiet call for balance between humanity and technology before reshaping into a united effort to save innate human goodness and connection in a demanding digital age.
Participants will mark Digital Fasting Day world on December 10, where millions will disconnect from devices, instead devote their time to reconnecting with life, inner peace, and human connection.
As part of their holistic approach, the group also supports the Mind Balance Exercise, a specialized program designed to alleviate stress, and promote mental clarity in order to combat digital overload. The World Digital Detox Day 2025’ is focused on creating meaningful societal impact by promoting a more balanced digital usage. Aside from spreading awareness, ambassadors are also recruited to uphold the mission.
