To commemorate 45 years in the nail industry, OPI has announced the launch of its spring 2026 collection, titled OPIcons, which revisits and reinterprets some of the brand’s most recognizable shades. The anniversary range draws from OPI’s extensive colour archive, presenting familiar hues in refreshed forms that reflect both heritage and evolution.

Over the last four and a half decades, the brand has built its reputation on nail colours that have remained relevant across trends and generations. Several of its shades—from soft, understated neutrals to confident reds—have become enduring favourites among professionals and consumers alike. The OPIcons collection takes these classics as its starting point, retaining their original character while introducing subtle changes in colour, finish, or naming.

The collection features 12 shades available in both Nail Lacquer and GelColor, alongside 12 additional shades offered in the Infinite Shine formula. According to co-founder and brand ambassador Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, the launch is intended as a celebration of OPI’s long-standing role in inspiring consumers through beauty. She has emphasised that the brand’s identity, including its name, bottle design, formulas, and colour palette has acted as a vehicle for creativity and self-expression over the years. She has also highlighted the strong emotional connections people have formed with specific shades, noting that the anniversary range draws directly from those associations to create new modern favourites.

Global director of colour equity Jill Bartoshevich has shares insights into the development of the remixed hues. OPI’m a Bubble Bunny, a hero shade in Nail Lacquer and GelColor, combines two of the brand’s most requested neutrals and emerged from a viral layering trend popularized by the OPI community itself. Another standout, Queens Rule, has been described as a more refined, shimmery evolution of an earlier pastel shade.

In the Infinite Shine lineup, Bartoshevich has pointed to Kyoto Oyster as a more iridescent reinterpretation of a pearl shade from OPI’s first-ever colour launch, while I’m Not Really an Influencer draws inspiration from one of the brand’s best-known shades, reimagined as a vibrant fuchsia.

Together, the collection underscores how OPI’s legacy continues to inform its future.
