The World Travel Mart (WTM) World Responsible Tourism Awards 2021 awarded the rural tourism project of Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board in the ‘Best Post-Covid Tourism Destination Development’ category. This award is given to businesses and destinations that offer socially responsible and sustainable tourism.
India was the leading country for Responsible Tourism and the winners were:
- Govardhan Village, Maharashtra for alternate technology; residential conferences; study programs.
- Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board for authentic and ground breaking rural experience through rural homestays
- No Footprints, Mumbai was recognised for offering authentic insight to travellers connecting them with ethnic communities that have thrived in Mumbai for years
- Village Ways, Mumbai for conducting virtual tours with village communities during COVID times.
