Experts have said that salons should not undertake cosmetic surgeries like hair transplants amongst others as they are not qualified enough to perform them. In fact, in 2022, the Delhi High Court spoke about the increasing number of salons undertaking hair transplants without any medical supervision. In another reported news, a salon owner performed a cosmetic surgery to fix a customer’s ear piercing where the latter lost her ear’s pinna due to an infect post the surgery.

Thus, experts strongly urge customers not to fall prey to the glib talk given by salon owners about these low-price alternatives. They should check the technician’s credentials, qualifications, and experience. Salons should stick to offering beauty treatments such as makeovers and pampering sessions. Treatments like laser therapies, Botox, and fillers should only be done under the supervision of a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon.

According to dermatologists, some salons these days also claim to offer hair transplants. They lure customers by offering lower rates, but such practices should be reported as no surgical procedure can be done in a salon. They are supposed to offer only beauty treatments like manicures, pedicures, facials, haircuts as they are not healthcare professionals. Any cosmetic surgery needs a proper surgical setup with the correct instruments and should be done by a licensed person.
