Sydell L. Miller, co-founder of Matrix Essentials and Ardell, a false eyelash company, passed away on February 25 after suffering from many illnesses. She is survived by her two daughters, her brother, four grandchildren, and three great granddaughters.
Miller and her husband had created the pre-cut eyelash kit that changed the false eyelash applications, from taking hours to merely minutes. They did wonders in the haircare industry too, transforming professional hair colour application. They created Matrix Essentials crème-based dyes that helped stylists apply hair colour exactly where they intended to to. In 1994, Sydell Miller sold Matrix Essentials to Bristol Myers-Squibb for a whopping $400 million and now L’Oreal owns the brand.
