Beauty Barn started in 2016 by a local entrepreneur, Toinali Chophi in Nagaland, who introduced Korean beauty products in India, much before they became a raging hit. She had a huge fan following from Gujarat to Kerala and made Klairs freshly juiced vitamin drop, COSRX snail mucin, and Holika Holika ceramide cream, beauty products to reckon with.
Now her home-based startup is a successful business with 30 employees. From having 500 orders in a month to 5000-10000 orders, she has seen a huge growth in less than seven years. Her brand is hugely popular on Instagram and now has a website and an app along with a retail store in Dimapur, Nagaland.
However, with big e-commerce portals like Nykaa and Amazon, along with Korean brands Innisfree and Limese offering K-beauty products with fast delivery, her first-mover advantage is slowly losing momentum. Though she is changing her marketing game to stay ahead of the competition. She has made an Instagram reel which went viral with about 11 million views in less than two months. Now she plans to focus on having more events and community-building activities and exploring more avenues beyond the North East. She aims to have a pan-India presence with online sales.
