With the construction of a new academy, Indore, which is well-known for its educational institutions, is poised to take a big step forward in the training of wellness and beauty. The goal of this project, which would cost INR 25 crores, is to offer degree programs to professionals working in the wellness and beauty sector. This proposed Indore Wellness Academy is slated to feature programs in beauty and wellness alongside graduate programs like BA, BCom, and BBA.

The request to establish this academy has been approved by the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET). The goal of this program is to offer in-depth instruction in cosmetology and other wellness-related disciplines. In phase one of the development, the government has awarded the university land spanning ten acres in addition to a grant of INR 25 crore.

The three-year degree program will be offered by the academy. The emphasis will be on imparting theoretical and practical expertise on a range of topics related to the wellness and beauty business. Aspects including cosmetology, production, and wig-making will all be covered in the classes. Under the direction of global industry professionals, students will receive practical instruction in the field. Students will be prepared for a variety of vocations in the wellness and beauty industries by the academy. A new educational strategy will govern the courses, which will be classified as belonging to the scientific and arts streams.

Institute of Hair Dresser and Beautician’s Director Unnati Singh said, “The pace of the wellness industry’s growth should coincide with the number of professional artists. But it isn’t so. A customer doesn’t only approach a beautician for makeup but also desires beauty treatments. This is why beauticians should be armed with dermatology knowledge. The degree courses would feature dermatology guidance and training as well.”

Kesh Shilpi Mandal’s President Nandkishore Verma was quoted, “Now schools and training institutes have beauty-related diploma courses. There have been talks about starting such courses in DAVV and BU Bhopal. With the help of the higher education division, there will be an effort to begin these courses from the next academic session. We have to make a wellness academy in Indore. We aim to provide world-class facilities that would be at par with those in London. Upon successful completion of the course, the graduates can avail of loan facilities to open their centres, like Rs. 25,000 to 20 lakhs for parlors, and up to 1 crore for product developers.

Currently, there are more than 7,000 parlors in Indore, 200 of which are premium, as per Dainik Bhasker. The beauty market has experienced 20% yearly growth, which is a rapid pace of expansion. Additionally, industry revenue was estimated to have exceeded 60 crores in the previous year. A sizable number of experts are employed in this industry, and there is a continuous need for qualified workers. The goal of the new Indore Academy is to generate skilled workers who can fulfill this expanding need.

Aspiring professionals enrolled in this academy’s courses will be eligible to apply for loans to further their careers. The establishment of manufacturing facilities will be eligible for a loan of up to INR 1 crore. Moreover, a loan between INR 25,000 to INR 20 Lakhs to establish salons and parlors.

The following are the takeaways from this proposal.

  1. This program would be a degree course spanning three years
  2. A land of 10 acres would be allotted for the proposed plan
  3. A budget of 25 crore has been allotted for the proposal

The opening of this wellness academy in Indore is a big step forward for the educational environment in the sector. Through providing thorough instruction and training in the health and beauty fields, the academy hopes to turn out highly qualified experts who can support the expansion and advancement of the field.
