With consumers unable to access salons for their beauty needs in the pandemic, the self-care industry has gained prominence. NPD reported that the hair colour brands witnessed a 147% jump in their figures whereas hair and skincare brands recorded a 50% spike in March. Statista observed that the Indian personal care industry surpassed 50% of growth rate. Further, CEO of Myntra, Amar Nagaram stated creams, colours and hair trimmers are the most popular products in the self-care category. Falguni Nayyar, CEO of Nykaa says, “All over Asia and in the US, we are seeing the trend of spending more on this (beauty) category.”
