On the occasion of its 10th Anniversary, Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council (B&WSSC) the recognised Awarding Body of National Council for Vocational Education & Training (NCVET) under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) organised a grand event which brought together the who’s who in skill development of the beauty and wellness sector.

Headed by Dr. Blossom Kochhar as the Chairperson the SSC has grown exponentially over the last nine years, making its presence felt across the 33 States and Union Territories, training and certifying more than 11 lakhs youth, helping make them employable and self-employable, empowered with the BWSSC certificate recognised by the Government of India. Her relentless focus and commitment to skill development has been the cornerstone of the SSC’s success. Here’s a closer look at her vision for B&WSSC.

1.What are your thoughts on celebrating B&WSSC’s 10th anniversary?

The Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council (B&WSSC) has come a very long way since we started. Back then, we were just a small team, unsure of how to make a difference in skilling. Today, I am proud to say that we have reached the number one position in skilling in the beauty and wellness industry. We have done a remarkable job, and I want to thank everyone who has worked hard for this achievement. Under the leadership of Ms. Monika, this is truly a moment of pride for me.

2.What have been the significant challenges and milestones along this journey?

There have been many challenges along the way, but we resolved them all with ease because we always worked together as a team to elevate the entire council. As a result, no challenge has ever hindered or stopped us from moving forward.

We have conquered numerous milestones, both little and enormous, and successfully as well. We have trained thousands of young individuals who are thriving today, empowering them to become entrepreneurs or exceptional professionals.

3.How does B&WSSC bridge the skilled manpower gap in the beauty and wellness industry?

We train individuals to meet industry standards, reskill them, and provide certification, ensuring they can secure jobs and other opportunities for a successful career. This helps them reach greater heights in the beauty and wellness industry.

4.How does this council promote an attractive skilling and career alternatives to young Indian students who are looking for options?

We train individuals from the ground up, starting with the basics such as setting up, comforting clients, and providing essential beauty services. We then progress to advanced teachings that prepare them to become skilled beauty professionals and cosmetologists, capable of leading larger teams with complete efficiency.

5.The beauty and wellness industry is on a strong growth path. How will BWSSC support this growth trajectory?

The B&WSSC is on a strong path of growth and is committed to promoting and advancing the entire council. We deliver comprehensive training in areas such as aromatherapy, Ayurveda, natural beauty, wellness, yoga, and even world skills, providing significant opportunities. Additionally, B&WSSC trains various segments of society, including acid attack survivors, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and the underprivileged. Whatever the industry requires, we are here to offer wholehearted support and ensure that it thrives.

Many congratulations and heartfelt thanks to our CEO and the entire team for bringing us this far. We extend our gratitude to the industry for supporting our growth in every aspect and to everyone connected to the industry and the council for helping us reach these great heights.
