The new aerosol combines humidity resistance, heat protection and lightweight styling in a fragrance-free formula designed for damp or dry hair.
Frizz can undo a carefully styled look within hours, particularly when humidity gets involved. Paul Mitchell’s latest launch takes aim at that problem with a new spray designed to keep hair smooth for up to 72 hours while offering protection during heat styling.
Called 3-Day No Frizz Spray, the fragrance-free aerosol is formulated for use on both damp and dry hair. Paul Mitchell says it provides “keratin-like” smoothness and up to 450°F of thermal protection, while helping hair retain a sleek, glossy finish in humid conditions.
Humidity is one of the main triggers of frizz because hair absorbs moisture from the surrounding air. As moisture enters the hair fibre, the cuticle can lift, leaving the surface less smooth and making the hair appear frizzy.
The new formula approaches the problem by creating a lightweight barrier around the hair. According to Bri Stanton of John Paul Mitchell Systems (JPMS) product development, a film-forming polymer creates an invisible shield that helps limit moisture absorption and control frizz and flyaways without leaving the hair stiff.
A silicone blend is also used to provide thermal protection during blow-drying and heat styling while contributing to a smoother finish. The JPMS team also said the formula’s conditioning agents and silicones help create a more uniform hair surface, which can improve light reflection and enhance shine.
How the spray is used depends on the desired finish. Applied to damp hair, it can be left to air-dry for frizz control and manageability. For greater frizz reduction, the brand recommends blow-drying and following with a flat iron. It can also be applied to dry hair when the goal is lighter frizz control and added shine.
The vegan formula is positioned as a multi-purpose styling product, bringing humidity resistance, heat protection and finishing benefits into one aerosol. Stanton said the development builds on Paul Mitchell’s focus on addressing everyday styling concerns through formulation, with the new spray intended to offer extended frizz control without compromising flexibility, shine or a touchable finish.
