India’s salon community gets leadership and business growth strategy tips from international salon business expert Gary Rom.

VC Academy recently hosted the latest edition of VC Open House in Mumbai, welcoming internationally acclaimed salon business expert Gary Rom for an immersive learning experience focused on leadership, client experience and sustainable business growth. The event brought together salon owners, managers, educators, senior hairstylists and industry professionals from across India, reaffirming the platform’s commitment to advancing salon education beyond technical excellence.

The session shifted the spotlight from hairdressing techniques to the business principles that drive long-term success. Drawing on more than 40 years of international experience across over 30 countries, Rom shared practical strategies on:

  • Customer consultation
  • Retail performance
  • Team development
  • Leadership
  • Creating memorable client experiences

Participants also engaged in interactive discussions, business exercises and real-world case studies, gaining actionable insights they could implement in their own salons.

Curated by Vipul Chudasama, Founder & Creative Director of VC Academy, VC Open House continues to offer a collaborative learning environment where industry professionals exchange ideas and learn from globally respected educators.

Speaking about the event, Vipul Chudasama said, “The future of our industry depends not only on better hairdressers but on better business leaders. Technical excellence is essential, but the salons that thrive are those that create outstanding client experiences and strong business systems. Gary Rom brought exactly that perspective to our community.”

Reflecting on his return to India, Gary Rom said, “India holds a very special place in my heart. What has always stood out to me is the Indian salon community—their hunger to learn, determination to succeed and passion for the craft. Having travelled and educated professionals across the world, I can honestly say I have never encountered a community that puts so much heart and soul into this industry.”

Among the attendees were celebrity hairstylist Aalim Hakim, Rebecca Samuel of VURVE Salon and several leading salon owners and industry professionals.

Since its inception, VC Open House has welcomed renowned names including Adhuna Bhabani and Angelo Seminara, strengthening its reputation as a platform that connects India’s salon community with global expertise. The next edition of VC Open House is scheduled for 16 November 2026, continuing VC Academy’s mission of empowering professionals with the leadership, business and management skills required to build stronger, future-ready salons.
