Travelling with pets just got a glamorous upgrade at Rome’s Fiumicino International Airport. The newly opened Dog Relais is a luxury hotel designed exclusively for dogs, offering spa-style indulgence and high-end comfort while their owners are on the move.
The facility houses 40 rooms, each fitted with temperature-controlled flooring and private gardens, allowing dogs to relax and play in a safe space. Standard suites are priced at €40 per night, while premium rooms at €60 come with video-call screens so owners can connect virtually. An app-controlled treat dispenser adds a fun, interactive touch, letting pet parents reward their furry companions from anywhere.
More about the luxe services
Wellness is at the heart of the experience. Dogs are treated to soothing aromatherapy sessions with lavender or peppermint, gentle massages with arnica cream, and even calming background music tuned to 432 Hz. Dedicated kennels ensure quiet care and individual attention for pups who prefer solitude. Grooming and spa services, including bathing and brushing, round off the pampering menu.
Location and other logistics
Conveniently located within the airport, Dog Relais even offers terminal pick-up services, making drop-off seamless for travellers. Since opening in May, the hotel has been almost fully booked, particularly during peak holiday seasons.
This launch comes alongside Italy’s updated pet travel regulations, which now allow larger dogs to fly in cabins on domestic routes if they are crated. The move highlights a growing global trend: airports are increasingly catering to the comfort and well-being of pets, ensuring they travel in style alongside their humans.
