As a creative forum for all artistes, HBS Hair and Beauty Show inspires  creativity in all its aspects among the hair and beauty professionals. The ‘Face’ of HBS has always played a pivotal role in motivating and shaping the professional and artistic journey of all participants. The ‘first look’ is imperial in deciding the path of the entire show, and the Creative Team of HBS is well acquainted with this fact. So, when Celebrity MUA Cherag Bambboat, Founder of Magical Makeovers & Academy; Hairstylist Deepak Jalhan, Creative Director of Looks Prive Salon and HAK artist of Schwarzkopf Professional India; and Fashion Photographer Arjun Chipalkatti came together to ideate on the perfect look for HBS 2025, they were a force to reckon with!

StyleSpeak offers you an exclusive sneak-peek of the making of the ‘HBS 2025 Look’ and takes you through the journey of the exciting, action packed shoot.

The Inspiration

The Creative Team wanted the face of HBS 2025 to be chic, classy and very avant-garde. The idea was to create something razor-sharp with a touch of creative mystery to it. So when Cherag, Deepak and Arjun joined forces, a look emerged which had an identity of its own. Working on the concept that  ‘less is more’, they created a unique look that could essentially be styled in different ways.

“It’s always a challenge shooting for an HBS Campaign – but that’s where the fun lies. For me, the aspect of a challenge jogs my creative freedom, which helps me to express myself in a much better manner” said Arjun, who has shot all the HBS campaigns. According to Cherag, “For HBS 2025, the idea was to create a look that would connect with the creative artistes.” Deepak felt that Arjun’s creative vision is what led the shoot in becoming the massive success that it was.

The Shoot: D-Day minus 1

One day before the shoot it was ‘all systems go’ in the already buzzing StyleSpeak office. The last minute checks were being made by the Shoot Team to check if the models were on schedule, whether Deepak had landed from Delhi and if Cherag was running on time! Everyone headed down to the Schwarzkopf Tech Centre in Andheri in Mumbai which the company had graciously allowed us to use for the prep.

According to Arjun, there was a lot of prep that went behind the shoot! Delhi-based Deepak Jalhan, flew down a day earlier for this. Under his watchful eye, the models were expertly prepped with a haircut and colour. Deepak recalls the room being full of palpable energy and the mood of the entire creative team to be at an all-time high.

Although any creative shoot is essentially very hectic, according to Arjun, but working alongside industry professionals like Deepak and Cherag is what made the process seem like a breeze! Cherag echoed the sentiment, saying that the entirety of the shoot day was full of chaos and fun. With a plan to keep the HBS shoot fresh and unlike anything that was ever done before, the Creative Team decided to shoot in a monochrome theme instead of incorporating colour. This allowed them to creatively experiment with clothes, makeup and hair.

The shoot incorporated various lighting styles, which further helped the final looks have an identity of their own! When the shoot ended, the final results shaped up to match the vision and expectations of the entire Creative Team, which allowed them to pack up with a sense of contentment. Deepak Jalhan captured the team’s sentiment perfectly saying “Working with HBS has been a liberating experience for me. I was allowed a full freedom of expression, which helped me channel my creativity.”
