Nykaa has announced a multi-year partnership with OpenAI to develop AI-enabled shopping experiences across beauty and fashion. Consequently, the collaboration will allow consumers to discover Nykaa products directly through ChatGPT conversations.
Under the partnership, Nykaa Beauty and Nykaa Fashion will appear as connected apps within ChatGPT. Therefore, users can access skincare, makeup, fragrance and fashion recommendations without switching platforms.
Additionally, the announcement boosted investor confidence significantly. Shares of FSN E-Commerce Ventures, Nykaa’s parent company, rose over three per cent during early trading on Wednesday.
AI-Led Shopping Could Reshape Beauty Discovery
The collaboration reflects the growing influence of conversational commerce within the beauty industry. Instead of traditional search-and-scroll browsing, consumers may increasingly rely on personalised AI-driven recommendations.
Moreover, the partnership places Nykaa’s own brands and partner labels inside one of the world’s fastest-growing AI ecosystems. As a result, the company could unlock an entirely new digital discovery channel for beauty consumers.
Nykaa also plans to integrate OpenAI technologies across several internal operations. The company will reportedly deploy ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex across marketing, customer support, legal, finance and engineering teams.
Nykaa Continues Expanding Its AI Beauty Ecosystem
The latest collaboration comes right after Sephora’s partnership with Google and further strengthens Nykaa’s long-term AI strategy. Previously, the company introduced tools such as Skin Scan, Virtual Try-On, AskNykaa, and AI Fashion Stylist to improve product discovery and personalisation.
Meanwhile, industry experts believe conversational commerce may transform how consumers interact with beauty brands online. Furthermore, several retailers are now exploring AI-native shopping experiences as digital consumer behaviour continues to evolve rapidly.
Nykaa’s OpenAI partnership marks one of India’s biggest beauty-tech collaborations so far. The move may also encourage more beauty retailers to invest aggressively in AI-powered consumer experiences.
