Uttarakhand will be the first state to start a yoga policy promoting Ayurveda and Yoga on a large scale, says Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the 10th World Ayurveda Congress and Arogya Expo-2024. The expo had representatives from more than 50 nations with over 6,000 experts taking part in the event. With over 250 stalls showcasing the importance of Ayurveda and yoga, the expo has taken Ayurveda to the global level. With this event, experts will share mutual knowledge and research about yoga and also brainstorm about different ways to do business.
Speaking about Ayush, the CM said that the state government is working relentlessly on promoting Ayurveda in Uttarakhand. Presently there are 300 AYUSH based ‘Ayushman Arogya Kendras’ with consultations provided by over 70 experts through the e-Sanjeevani portal. There are 50-bed and 10-bed AYUSH hospitals in every district of the state. The state government is also producing Ayurvedic herbs, making one village in a district as a model AYUSH village. Additionally, Uttarakhand has started the ‘Uttarakhand AYUSH Policy’. It will produce more AYUSH manufacturing, wellness, education, research and medicinal plants. It also intends to start AYUSH tele-consultation along with 50 new yoga and wellness centers.

The government has requested the Ministry of AYUSH to launch the All India Institute of Ayurveda in the state. This will be pivotal for Ayurveda education and research. Speaking about the importance of World Ayurveda Conference, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary in the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India said that this event is launching AYUSH on a global platform and enhancing the visibility and reach of Ayurveda in Uttarakhand, a state home to some of the best-known herbs found in the Himalayas.
