Co-founders Jay Hack and Brandon Garcia have announced the launch of free beauty search engine Mira, which is backed by the venture capital and private equity arm of Unilever, Unilever Ventures. The askmira.com site is said to be ‘democratizing the world of beauty’, allowing users to find real consumer reviews, compare products side-by-side, and do click through purchase options. With investors such as Unilever Ventures, Founders Fund and e.ventures, Hack and Garcia aim to champion further transparency and inclusivity in the beauty space. The site uses facial recognition and artificial intelligence to help pair products, with users able to ask a community for advice.
