After over a year of renovation and redesign work, The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has reopened the iconic Taj Malabar Resort & Spa, Cochin. The new design takes into account the history and heritage of Cochin as one of the biggest ports in India. Their J Wellness Circle Spa is a sanctuary blending established Ayurvedic therapies with modern comforts and a yoga centre.
The Taj Malabar, Cochin, has a fantastic history, being established in 1935. The hotel had been closed from September 2023 for major renovations and has finally reopened. With 82 luxurious rooms and 11 suites, it is one of the grandest hotels in Kerala. The new renovations aim to maintain the cultural and historical heritage of the hotel, blending it together with modern amenities to afford travelers with a luxury cultural experience.
Features of the Taj in Cochin include Rice Boat, its seafood restaurant featuring the best of Kerala’s seafood, The Mattancherry Bar, and the J Wellness Circle Spa. Taking full advantage of Cochin’s maritime history and culture, the hotel plans to establish itself as a way to immerse in the city’s cultural landscape.
