Patanjali, Baba Ramdev-led Ayurvedic company, has retaliated to the accusations regarding “false advertisements or propaganda” about its products, soon after the Supreme Court warned it not to release false and misleading advertisements about its medicines curing diseases. To this, Patanjali rebutted that it was ready to pay a fine and even take on a death sentence if they were proven guilty. It added that there is a database of more than one crore people with pre-clinical and clinical evidence, as well as real-world proof that its claims are true.
Baba Ramdev said in a press conference that the Supreme Court should have given them a hearing too. He added that, if given a chance, he would have himself presented all the facts, along with scientific research papers, and clinical evidence in support of his claims. He further reaffirmed that Yoga and Ayurveda are capable of curing serious ailments. Patanjali has the world’s best research centre for Ayurveda where scientists conduct research following over 3,000 research protocols. It has published almost 500 research papers in reputed research journals on Ayurveda and its efficacy too.
On 23 August 2022, the Supreme Court had issued notices to Patanjali Ayurved Ltd and the Union Health Ministry and Ministry of Ayush on the request of the IMA accusing Patanjali of a smear campaign by Ramdev against modern medicine and vaccination drive.
