Netflix has just launched a new documentary series to explore the lifestyle and science behind the global longevity hotspots called Blue Zones. It will be a four-part documentary that went live on 30th August. Dan Buettner, National Geographic fellow, explorer and author Blue Zones will be hosting the series called “Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones”.

The series will take the audience to five locations and highlight their diet, lifestyle and culture that helps them have a long and healthy life. While researching on Blue Zone communities (Nicoya, Costa Rica; Ikaria, Greece; in Sardinia, Italy; Okinawa, Japan; and Loma Linda, California), Buettner found out that people in these communities live up to a century not because of self-discipline or a fitness regime. In fact, these communities believe in holistic ecosystems that helps making healthy choices. People residing here are easily pushed to having a plant-based diet, daily movement, a sense of purpose, and strong interpersonal relations.

MakeMake Entertainment has created this series, documenting a five-year sojourn with Buettner. According to Angus Wall, Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones Executive Producer – MakeMake is always on the lookout for stories that help people understand how to live better. Blue Zones is an inspiring series that shows everyone how to live well.
