MapMyGenome, a Genomic company, has launched a DNA-based test called BeautyMap. This is the first time a DNA test will recommend skin and hair products and treatments. It will use genetic predispositions to understand 40 skin and hair related conditions like hydration, sun damage, sleep habits, acne, vitamin levels, and hair loss, among others.
It is a non-invasive test that needs a saliva sample that is analysed in the mapmygenome’s laboratory. The report gives customised skin and haircare products. Under MapMyGenome’s HarGharDna initiative, users will get a test kit delivered at home.
In the BeautyMap package, users will also get genetic counselling sessions to understand the results and then make informed decisions about their beauty routine.
The kit was launched on 30th April for Rs 6,999 and is available on Amazon, Clinikally, and on the website, amongst other portals.
