L’Oréal won the International Innovation Prize at the the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show. Its latest gadget is the connected hair brush, which comes with an app.
L’Oréal Recherche incubator and French start-up Withings developed this gadget. The main aim of this brush is for consumers to look after their hair and scalp better. The connected hair brush has built-in microphone and many sensors sending inputs about the strength and number of brush strokes to the app, giving suggestions.
The brush is priced at €200 and will be sold under Kérastase label. It will be available on the brand’s online store, Kérastase hair salon, and some stores in the Withings network.
According to L’Oreal’s official website, the Technology Incubator launched in 2012 marked a presence in New York, New Jersey, California, France and Japan. A team of 30+ experts features physicists, engineers, UX specialists, hardware designers and data scientists working cross functionally. This move also stamps L’Oréal play to transition from world’s foremost beauty company to a technology player.
Notably,according to L’Oréal News, the brand cliched eight awards at this year’s CES Innovation Awards. It also unveiled a host of new products and technologies. L’Oréal’s Executive Vice President, Barbara Lavernos spoke at CES 2024, “The future of beauty must be fully inclusive and made more accessible through technology.”
