The 4th Edition of ASSOCHAM’s Beauty, Wellness and Personal Care Conference cum Excellence Awards was held on 15thFebruary at Hotel The Lalit, New Delhi. Attended by industry stalwarts like Aseem Sahu, Dr. Vaishali Gode, Dr. Blossom Kochhar, Neelam Pratap Rudy, Padma Shri Dr. D S Rana and Monica Bahl, the event focused on the fastest-growing segments of the natural personal care industry apart from innovations, formulations and advancement in the cosmeceutical and wellness industry.
Delivering the keynote address at the conference, Shri. Aseem Sahu, Deputy Drugs Controller (I), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Govt. of India said, “The beauty and wellness industry has just adopted a new idea of cosmeceuticals.” He emphasized that a push for the development of the MSME sector is required to redefine the industry’s growth. The necessity to have a transparent mechanism for cosmetic products as well as a regulatory framework was reiterated at the conference.“The scope of innovation, formulation and technology advancement are the important tools for the sustainable growth of the beauty and wellness industry. It is clear that the industry is growing at 6.32% CAGR, shared Aseem Sahu.
Taking about the latest trends in the beauty and wellness industry, Dr. Vaishali Gode, Head – Packaging, Advanced Technology, and Product Development Marico India Ltd. said, “Moisturization of skin is the latest trend.”. She explained the science of oiling and the importance of maintenance of scalp, hair and skin. “Oiling acts as a healthy intact skin barrier and a proper regime of cleaning, face wash and applying moisturizer should be maintained to keep skin healthy,” added Dr. Vaishali Gode.
The conference also focused on the need to have an efficient and effective ecosystem in the beauty and wellness industry. Ms. Monica Bahl, CEO Beauty Wellness Skill Sector Council revealed, “With the rise in awareness about holistic well-being among people in India, the spending on beauty and wellness products and services has increased. The aim is to establish an effective and efficient ecosystem for developing and imparting skills in the Beauty and Wellness industry.”
In addition, Dr.Blossom Kochhar, Co-Chair ASSOCHAM Empowerment Council, Chairperson Aroma Magic Pvt. Ltd shared her success story and showcased the sustainable beauty standards from the industry and Ms. Neelam Pratap Rudy, Renowned Golf Player and Social Activist highlighted the importance of wellness and how it can lead to productivity and reduced health risks. “The rapid growth of the Beauty and Wellness Industry, along with the entry of many small and large companies, has led to a huge demand for trained personnel or beauty therapists,” added Dr. Blossom Kochhar.
Concluding on a positive note, Padma Shri Dr. D S Rana, Chairman, ASSOCHAM National Wellness Council & Chairman, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital reiterated the contribution of the Beauty and Wellness industry towards the country’s economic growth and gradually becoming a leading employer.
