Quirky ensembles, contemporary styles and comfort wear ruled the roost at LFW 2021
The most coveted and awaited FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week was a tad different this year. The event took place “phygitally” where Bollywood celebrities walked the ramp, but there was no audience to applaud. However, the show was streamed on myriad digital mediums for the audience, making Lakme Fashion Week 2021 a raging hit. This year saw some of the famous celebrity designers – from Manish Malhotra to Masaba, flaunting the latest fashion trends in unique styles.

Lakme Salon’s Kaleido Creation
Lakmé Salon, in partnership with ace designer duo Pankaj & Nidhi came up with a free-spirited, graphic-cool show, Kaleido, showcasing freedom of expression through a futuristic look. Models walked the ramp in bright-hued, flowy garments with long-tresses left loose, asking women to embrace their natural form. Their maxi and mini dresses in geometrical prints inspired by basic elements of 3D geometry gave a futuristic look, while the vibrant colours brought out the happy silhouettes of Indian women.
Ruchika Sachdev’s- Ready Set Play Collection
Famous designer, Ruchika Sachdev, presented her dramatic collection at the grand finale. This year’s theme was playful hues interspersed with block colouring and monochromatic patterns. The entire collection had simple and smart dresses, loose pants, jackets, crop tops, and skirts. Bollywood star Ananya Pandey was the show stopper for Ruchika wearing a fluid pleated skirt with bright colour blocking with a crop top.
Manish Malhotra – A Fine Blend of Traditional with New
Celebrity fashion designer Manish Malhotra closed the grand finale of Lakme Fashion Week 2021 with opulent monotone couture outfits. The collection celebrated contemporary fashion with models sporting kalidars, lehengas as well as gowns and jackets. In his true style, Manish recreated traditional materials to fit the modern-world silhouettes. Bollywood hotshots – Kiara Advani and Kartik Aryan walked for Manish looking gorgeous in their contemporary avtaar of traditional attires in metallic tones.
Masaba Gupta’s Nostalgic Collection
Famous fashion designer and actor Masaba Gupta, put forth a nostalgic collection at LFW 2021, as a celebration of 11 years of her brand. Her easy and breezy Summer 21 collection was all about comfort, happiness, and music. She brought out these elements through the quirky ensembles with playful florals, vibrant colours, animal motifs, and Masaba-designed limited edition headphones. She chose relaxed outfits like breezy shirts, flowy kaftans, exotic kurtas, and robes that added to the happy and fun vibe of the collection.
