Amazon India has more than 20 lakh beauty and personal care (BPC) products available from over 3.6 lakh global and Indian brands. According to Zeba Khan, Director – Fashion and Beauty at Amazon India, the e-commerce portal witnesses more than 80% demand for products from new customer from Tier 2 and 3 towns including, Nagpur, Jaipur, and Lucknow.

There has been an increase in demand for skincare and bodycare products with many of the brands experiencing a 6.5 time hike in sales volumes. Zeba added that sunscreen has been the top selling product on Amazon with brands like Minimalist and Derma Co. ruling the roost. During summers, there was a rise in fragrance products too, increasing sales up to nine times. In Professional Haircare, luxury fragrances, and Ayurvedic beauty products, sales have increased by four times with brands such as Kama Ayurveda, L’Oreal Paris Professional, and Hugo Boss leading the charts. Amazon has also seen a surge in men’s grooming segment with some of its grooming product categories witnessing a 2 time rise in sales volumes in a year during the Great Indian Festival 2023. According to user-generated poll by Hunch, a social discovery app, Amazon is the favourite online fashion portal for Gen Z in India.

In June 2023, Amazon launched the Global Beauty Store with over 5,000 products from more than 60 global brands, including Anastasia Beverly Hills, First Aid Beauty, Rom&nd, Nudestix, Beauty of Joseon, and Max Factor. In the last one year, the store has seen about 2.5 times more visits as compared to the main site, says Zeba.
