Himalaya Wellness, a leading global health care brand, is increasing understanding of the negative impact of stress among the Indian populace with a nationwide campaign which helps people to understand their own stress levels. During the campaign, a Stress Test with 10 questions, based on a scientific approach, was administered to over 65,000 participants across the country. These questions were based on lifestyle habits, work pressures, and work–life balance, made the respondents consider how these factors drastically spiked their stress levels, leading to a higher risk of burnout or chronic health conditions. The responses were collated to grade the respondents placing them into low, moderate, and high stress levels. This is part of the brand’s consistent effort to provide better wellness options derived from customer care, increased awareness, and sound science-backed solutions.
Questionnaire Results show Women Suffer Stress More
According to the data collected, over 36% of women ended up in the high stress category compared to 21% of men, displaying a sharp gender difference in stress levels. Moreover, adults within the 18–34 age group experienced the most stress, particularly related to work demands, relationships and expectations in various aspects of their lives.
Stress was also determined to be higher among respondents from metropolitan cities compared to those from non-metro regions. A breakdown of stress levels in different cities, revealed highest levels as a result of a fast-paced urban lifestyles, long commutes, and strenuous professional environments that resulted in havoc on one’s mental well-being.
Consequently, many respondents reported suffering from a variety of negative issues that plagued their mental health, with overthinking as the most common problem, followed by burnout, anxiety, irritability, and a persistent feeling of things not going right.
Women revealed their symptoms were expressed as frequent anger, tension headaches, constant exhaustion, and burnout.
On the campaign, Vikas Bansi, Business Director–OTX Division, Himalaya Wellness Company, said, “Stress is no longer episodic; it is shaping daily life and behavior. Early awareness is essential if individuals and institutions are to respond before stress translates into more serious health outcomes. The initiative is designed to help validate everyday experiences of stress that are often dismissed or overlooked. As part of its holistic approach to stress awareness, Himalaya continues to advocate evidence-backed herbal solutions such as Ashwagandha, traditionally known to help the body adapt to stress.”
The only means to help the public handle high stress levels is to build supportive environments, greater access to mental health facilities, and to practice greater self-care such as salon and spa visits for soothing treatments, or self-healing strategies like mental wellness breaks, and hobbies.
