Ahmedabad-based startup Goodlii is redefining salon experiences in India by merging artificial intelligence with everyday grooming. Launched in February 2023 by Abhinand Pandya and Kahaan Vasa, Goodlii aims to digitise one of India’s most unorganised service sectors by offering a tech-first solution for both customers and salon owners.

The idea was born when Pandya and his wife couldn’t easily compare salons in their South Bhopal neighbourhood. Despite a dense concentration of salons, there was no platform to view services, prices or stylists at a glance. This gap was the inspiration for Goodlii, a B2B2C platform named after the phrase “good-looking.”

Goodlii allows users to discover nearby salons, browse menus, compare prices, schedule appointments, and choose their favourite stylist. On the business end, salons receive a digital toolkit for managing bookings, memberships, payments, vouchers, and customer communication.

The platform goes beyond appointment scheduling. Its in-built AI engine stores users’ haircut and service history, recommends when touch-ups are due, and suggests styles based on previous choices. The app can show users the kind of haircuts they have had in the previous months and also get reminders for the next one.

For salon owners, Goodlii offers smart CRM tools. It flags clients who haven’t visited recently and allows direct communication via WhatsApp. Features like calendar management, automated reminders, sales tracking, and overlapping bookings help streamline day-to-day operations for salons.

The backend is powered by Amazon Web Services and can scale to support 1 lakh salons and 5 crore users. The team has also built language features using Google Translate to cater to regional users and is developing an AR tool for virtual hairstyle previews, expected within two years.

Currently active in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, Goodlii has onboarded over 2,450 salons and has had more than 1,000 downloads of their app. The app follows a subscription model with three annual plans including, Rs 7,500 (basic), Rs 10,500 (standard), and Rs 12,500 (premium). The premium plan includes services like advance analytics and CRM features like customer targeting tools and WhatsApp reminders.

The startup started with an initial investment of Rs 2.5 crore through bank loans and personal savings. Recently, it raised the first round of external funding at a valuation of ₹20 crore for a 5% stake.
