A salon session at the Dessange Paris Salon in the Garden city of Bengaluru promises sheer luxury.
Did you know that Dessange Paris is the official beauty partner of the Cannes Film Festival? This luxurious French salon is renowned around the world for offering a total beauty experience to their customers.
So when I got the opportunity to visit the newly launched Dessange, I decided to experience some of their well known services.
Architecture Matters
Dessange has a global design theme which features a typical all-white interior. This salon in Bengaluru spreads over 4300 sq. ft. and occupies two floors. The cool white interiors are interspersed with natural plants and pops of beige detailing. “We have dedicated separate rooms for Kerastase and Phytodess hair spas. The idea behind Dessange is that this is a space that globally has an opulent design with minimalistic aesthetic large spaces throughout the salon which we have followed,” explains M.D. Darshith Shivanagere Muralinath.
Product Profile
The salon uses several French brands like Kerastase, Phytodess, Dessange and L’Oreal for their hair care services and Skeyndor, Remy Laure, Cirepil Wax, Cuccio Naturale for the skin care services. Phytodess is Dessange’s own line of products focusing on beauty products that are sustainable. For nails the salon uses products from OPI and Bluesky.
Staff Training
All staff members are trained every month with advanced level and refresher training. “Our hair stylists are trained by French trainers from Dessange Paris for hair colouring, haircuts and hair spa. We have very experienced staff who have undergone months of training with our international team. The average staff experience for an entry level staff is about 5-6 years in the industry and for the Style Director it is about eight years,” adds Muralinath.
Marketing Strategies
Reaching out to the right set of audience by collaborating with great brands and engaging with customers on digital platforms, and running interactive stories on Instagram is how Dessange is promoting itself. “We are also planning to do some interesting pop ups with luxury brands that align with Dessange. We want to promote Dessange range of hair products and our hair spas including Phytodess hair products which are unique for various hair concerns. We will also promote across residential communities by offering special discounts to the residents,” says Muralinath.
The Dessange Experience
The first treatment I tried was the Classic Pedicure, a 45-minute relaxing ritual for the feet. My therapist Caroline from Manipur started by cutting and filing my nails. A cuticle softener by Cuccio Naturalé (artisan shea & vetiver) was applied to each nail and feet were then immersed in warm water in which sea salts were added. After a few minutes she cleaned the cuticles with a cuticle pusher and removed the extra cuticles around the nails. Next, the back of my feet were cleaned with a foot scraper to remove the dead skin, cleaned with a cleanser and allowed to soak in warm water. A sea salt scrub followed, where the feet were massaged, washed with cold water and patted dry. My feet and legs are then given an invigorating massage using a hydrating massage crème.
I then headed for a quick Hair Spa and my therapist Shakeel suggested that I do the Instant Conditioning Fusio Dose which is an effective quick fix solution for hair issues. He used the Kerastase Bain Riche Dermo Calm shampoo which has an instant effect of cooling the scalp. He then mixed the Fusio Dose from the Booster Discipline collection of Kerastase with the Fusio Dose concentrate and sprayed it all over my hair explaining that the small molecules will be instantly absorbed. He then did a head massage using firm strokes that felt deeply relaxing. After that I am asked to wait for five minutes before my hair is rinsed with plain water. Once my hair is towel dried, he applied a leave-on serum from the Kerastase Discipline series, called smoothing taming milk to also ensure the frizz is reduced as well as the scalp feels energized.
After the end of my time at the salon, I felt great that I had some ‘me-time’ and left feeling good about myself. After all that is what a Dessange Salon session promises!
