Sri Lanka’s BeWAXed offers signature waxing services

BeWAXed, the famed salon chain from Sri Lanka opens its first salon in Bengaluru’s Koramangala

An exclusive ladies-only waxing salon chain, based in Sri Lanka, the Maldives and now, India, BeWAXed is all about ensuring women are pampered and made to feel special. “We are super passionate about waxing as a service and have changed the way people perceive waxing as a service. We mainly focus on body waxing and have added on other skin care services to complement the pre and post-care waxing,” says Durga Kenny, Founder &Director, BeWAXed. On offer is Honey Wax, Special Wax (Liposoluble wax), body scrubs, body polishing, nail services, facials and pre bridal packages.

The Salon

The salon’s aesthetic is simple and to maintain a sense of uniformity across their outlets, the colour scheme uses two main colours, pink and white. “So, the salon is decorated with hints of pink to match our other outlets,” says Kenny.

The pink wall that has several framed posters, and the one that tells you how often you need to come back for a waxing session is a highlight of the salon. Even the pink hued sofa is complemented by floral cushions that have the pink theme.

The salon uses popular brands like Biosoft and Rica for waxing. For pedicure, they use Raaga and Sara DTAN/ROSE while facials are done using O3 Bridal facial, O3 Shine Facial, Herbal tree gold, VLCC, and Jovees. Coffee and gold scrubs are used for body polishing. “We are super conscious about hygiene and bed covers are used for every client,” says Kenny. The salon also displays notice boards that ask you to use the washroom before all intimate waxing sessions.

Training

The staff at the salon have been trained and follow standard processes in all their treatments. One of the signature treatments is the full body wax and vajacial (or booty facial), which is especially popular in Bengaluru. This is a non-invasive facial treatment for the bikini area that is known to help with ingrown hair, remove dead skin, smooth bumps around the bikini line, and helps with hyperpigmentation to maintain healthy and hydrated skin.

“We have trained our staff with our senior internationally trained trainer who was able to visit the outlet and give the staff a full training in par with the rest of our international team,” avers Kenny. They plan to expand to Mumbai and Delhi in the coming future.

The Treatments

Nitu from Sikkim, my therapist, started with the waxing service where you are asked to lie down for a leg wax. She used an aloe vera wax that is smooth and quite painless. A body oil with a slight orange hint is applied post the waxing. The underarm waxing is also done with minimum pain and the aloe vera gel applied post the wax soothes the skin too. I also experience the Brightening Lemon pedicure that uses Blossom Kochhar’s aroma magic products. This natural six step Lemon Brightening Pedicure Kit is enriched with the goodness of Lime and Eucalyptus essential oils and uses all-natural ingredients like Aloe vera, Lemon and Shea butter. The pedicure starts with nail cutting and filing after which cuticle cream is applied and the feet are allowed to soak in warm water that has a mix of pedicure shampoo and Dettol. Using a cuticle pusher, the cuticle is cleaned and the salt soak deep cleanses the impurities while the combination of oatmeal and sugar in the scrub effortlessly exfoliates dead skin cells. The lemon foot scrub deep cleanses and exfoliates and is massaged thoroughly into the feet. The back of the feet is then scrubbed to remove dead skin and the feet is then cleaned with soap. After tapping the feet dry, a foot massage cream is applied and Nitu gives my feet an invigorating massage. The Lemon pack is applied to help the feet get a bright look with the help of kaolin clay. She cleans the cuticles again and applies a nail polish of my choice and finally washes the pack off with water. The legs and then wiped dry and moisturizer is applied all over. At the end of the session my feet feel relaxed and happy.
