The Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council (B&WSSC) has spearheaded an initiative to integrate lessons on beauty and wellness in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum, which forms the education framework for affiliated schools. Under this new lesson plan, a beauty and wellness educational chapter will be added to the vocational curriculum for classes 6 to 12.
The announcement was made on 10th January circular as part of efforts by the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) to expose students to this sector, which has seen substantial growth in recent years, opening up viable career options in this industry.
B&WSSC Celebrates the Potential Talent
Acknowledging that this step opens avenues for professionals with new skills and expertise into the sector, B&WSSC expressed their appreciation to CBSE for recognising the possibilities within this sector. The council representative added, “It is a key focus area for integrating skills and vocational education with academics under NEP 2020. A big shout-out to CBSE for empowering students with opportunities to explore career-ready skills in this vibrant and growing industry. Together, we are shaping the future of skilled India!”
By introducing students to the beauty and wellness industry early through a practical lesson plan, it expands their career choices, giving them a clear path to becoming a professional via higher education and better training. With a focus on skills and encouraging innovation, CBSE is ensuring that fresh talent can help spur growth in the industry and enhance the service sector, as the beauty and wellness services experience growing demand.
