Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense and the Crown Prince of Dubai just announced plans of opening a USD 545 million wellness resort in Dubai called the Therme Dubai project. The resort will be located at Zabeel Park and is slated to open by 2028. It will be the world’s tallest well-being centre with a height of 100 meters. It will have the world’s largest indoor botanical garden and an interactive park that can host 1.7 million visitors annually. It will also have a Michelin-star restaurant, 4,500 square metre indoor and terrace pools, and three 18-metre waterfalls.

The resort will be divided into three areas- relax zone, play zone, and restore zone. The relax zone will have mineral pools, steam rooms, indoor and outdoor relaxation pools, and natural treatments with mineral-enhanced water. The restore zone will have steam rooms, saunas, and mineral treatment baths, while the play zone will be a recreational space with a lot of health-themed and entertainment options for both children and adults.

According to Sheikh Hamdan, this will be an iconic monument in Dubai. It will showcase the emirate’s commitment to improve urban biodiversity and maintain environmental sustainability. The building design has been made keeping in mind sustainability, using advanced technologies for water treatment, cooling, and heating. 90% of the water in the thermal pools will be recycled and 80% of cooling requirements and fresh air will use clean energy sources.

The wellness resort is a part of the Quality of Life Strategy 2033 which was initiated in May 2024. The project will be completed in three phases by 2033.
