Svart Eiendom AS, the owner and developer of Svart, one of the world’s first energy-positive hotels, has hired Six Senses to run it. Svart will be located at the base of the Svartisen glacier in Arctic Norway. The 94-room hotel was supposed to open in 2022, but it will now open in 2024. The glass-fronted, circular structure will float on stilts above the fjord of Holandsfjorden. Within the first five years of operation, the goal is for Svart to be carbon-positive and waste-free to landfill. The hotel will have an indoor-outdoor spa, which was designed by consultant Felicity Leahy and is now being tweaked to fit Six Senses’ philosophy.
