Sephora, the retailer owned by LMVH was charged with a lawsuit in New York on 11th of November by Lindsey Finster. The lawsuit claimed that Sephora deceived its consumers with their ‘Clean Beauty’ program. The 11 page class action complaint revealed that Sephora sold a lot of products under ‘Clean at Sephora’ which had ingredients that didn’t match with the consumer’s understanding of the term. With the misleading representations under the ‘Clean at Sephora’ banner, the products were sold at a higher, premium price. Finster said that she bought the products by relying on the ‘Clean at Sephora’ seal and believed the products and expected them to be non-synthetic and causing no harm, irritation to the skin. She paid much higher for these products due to the misleading representation. Consumers of New York, Texas, North Dakota, Wyoming, Idaho, Alaska, Iowa, West Virginia, North Carolina and Utah who bought “Clean at Sephora” products would be covered in the Lawsuit.
