Two years of the pandemic denied wellness seekers the opportunity to visit their favourite destination to de-stress and heal. Kerala now has to innovate to attract ‘safe’ International and Indian travellers. Opening in the last month of the Malyalam calendar, Karkkadakam (July-August), they have launched attractive packages like special ‘Monsoon Treatments’ and ‘Post-Covid Rehab’ besides discounts to attract clients. Normally, at this time of the year, all destinations and treatment centres are full. Tourism and Ayurveda go hand in hand in Kerala, with Ayurveda contributing nearly 70% to Kerala Tourism’s total foreign exchange. There are more than 90 accredited Ayurveda centres in the State and 20 odd other venues such as Kottakkal and Vaidyaratnam that have been giving treatment for years.
