Johnson & Johnson (J&J) have recalled Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist Sunscreen Spray SPF 50+ in Australia as there was more than the desired amount of benzene, a potential cancer-causing substance. As per Australian regulator, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has recalled the batches with August 2023 or earlier expiry date. Benzene is a human carcinogen that could cause cancer depending on the extent of exposure and level. The TGA has limited its concentration to 2 ppm but when Neutrogena sunscreen was tested, benzene levels were 3 ppm or lower in two of the 17 batches in Australia.
