Following an issue of sexual abuse and harassment in a report by the Delhi Commission for Women, the Delhi Government headed by C.M. Kejriwal has prohibited cross-gender massages in Spas. Under the new guidelines spas with more than 10 staff must have a complaints register. All spas must employ only professionally certified staff above 18 years old. The entrance door must be kept open during working hours and massage room doors will not have latches or bolts. Separate bathrooms and changing rooms are compulsory for male and female clients. Additionally, police clearance certificates for all employees and police verification of the premises is compulsory. Only those spas who follow these rules will be eligible for the issuance of the health trade license.
