The 54th edition of Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna, the premier B2B event for the cosmetics industry concluded recently. It received a record response with over 250,000 stakeholders from 153 countries attending the event. This year saw an increasing number of stakeholders from North America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Oceania.

The leading global event is organized in collaboration with Cosmetica Italia – Personal Care Association as well as immense support from Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and ITA – Italian Trade Agency. According to Matteo Zoppas, President of ITA – Italian Trade Agency, Cosmoprof has outdone itself with an extensive international reach and ITA has helped in attaining this success, bringing 152 buyers from 50 countries.

There was great industry participation in all the events organized. The Cosmoprof & Cosmopack Awards announced the best beauty products for the near future. More than 1,000 people attended the Awards evening. The CosmoTrends area also saw a fair amount of traction where it gave an insight into the current trends. CosmoVision was another popular area that showcased the future journey of the beauty industry.

There were 12 CosmoTalks organised, which were well attended by delegates who  followed analyses and round tables chaired by global experts and managers. The On Hair shows were a huge hit too with 18 artistic teams presenting new styles, cuts, and techniques as well as avant-garde colour proposals.

According to Benedetto Lavino, President of Cosmetica Italia, companies, operators, and experts in the industry have understood the novelty of Italy and what it can bring to the table. In fact, the turnover of the cosmetics sector in Italy has gone back to pre-pandemic levels and exceeded 2019 values by 10.5%. It is expected to see an annual growth of 7.7% in 2023.

There has been an increased representation from the political world and different institutions, which shows that the government is understanding the value of cosmetics as a means of hygiene, protection, and prevention. It also sees the tag “Made in Italy” as an important driver of the national cosmetics industry, which can be confirmed with the appreciation seen in the global market.
