As per the latest assessment report by the Government of Canada, talc could be harmful to the lungs when inhaling loose talc powder products such as mattifying powders, loose setting powders and more. Moreover, self-care products with 100% talc used in the perineal region to reduce odour and moisture can cause ovarian cancer for women. Other self-care products used in the perineal region like deodorants, antiperspirants, wipes, bubble bath, and others can also have harmful effects. These products are made in the form of sprays, loose powders, gels, solid cakes and have talc concentration between 1% and 100%. These reports are now available for public scrutiny to Canadians.
