C.M. Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said all efforts would be made to get the World Health Organisation to open their Global Centre for traditional medicine in Bhopal. He was speaking at a workshop on the AYUSH based economic development scheme ‘Devaranya’ as a means of employment generation for people in tribal areas. He remarked that medicinal plants should be cultivated in the plains of the villages so that AYUSH and tourism will be brought together. Today more than 360 new AYUSH health and wellness centres are being established in M.P., Ayush super specialty hospitals being constructed in Indore and Bhopal and Ayurvedic and Yunani dispensaries in the state and being upgraded. Moreover, increasing emphasis is being laid on research and development of AYUSH medicines.
