February 15, 2022: 2000’s hairdo called ‘slut strand’ is making a comeback in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Skiers are commonly seen sporting these face-framing hair strands. Many skiers compete with strands of hair on either side of their face showing outside their helmet. In the female snowboarders and skiers community, this hairdo has a greater significance, and these slut strands are used as an expression of femininity, to communicate to the rest of the hill that you are a female athlete, under all that gear. Chloe Kim who took first place in the snowboard halfpipe event was seen with face-framing strands of caramel blonde hair peeking out from under her beanie.
