Godrej Professional Spotlight, is an initiative of Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL), that provides hairstylists a platform to showcase their talent. Under this program, three selected hairstylists will get up to Rs 5 lakhs to boost their professional aspirations. Out of all the entries, 30 selected finalists will be invited to Mumbai to take part in the Godrej Professional Spotlight grand finale in December.
A jury of professionals and celebrities such as Monica Bahl (CEO of Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council); stylist Yianni Tsapatori, (Creative Director – Hair, Godrej Professional);and Kanishka Ramchandani (Editor, Professional Beauty Hairdressers Journal India); will choose the winners. The winner will get Rs 5 lakh funding and also an opportunity to work with a celebrity, while those in the second and third place will get INR 2.5 lakh and INR 1.5 lakh, respectively.

This initiative is jointly being organised with Godrej Professional and the Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council (B&WSSC), an Awarding Body of National Council for Vocational Education & Training (NCVET) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The initiative proposes to train and help 30 hairstylists under the Godrej Professional Spotlight. The shortlisted stylists will get training and receive Government recognised certificates from B&WSSC.
According to Abhinav Grandhi, General Manager, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL), the Indian salon industry is one of the largest and fast-growing sectors but still it does not have enough trained and skilled hair stylists. Through the Godrej Professional Spotlight these dynamics will change. Monica Bahl, CEO, Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council (B&WSSC) added the salon industry is seeing a huge growth mainly due to enhanced consumer aspirations. Thus, it is pertinent to improve the skills of professionals.

The initiative undertaken by Godrej Professional Spotlight is one such endeavour that ensures that the industry is keeping up with changing trends and consumer expectations. Through such an initiative, salon professionals will have a better career as well as get a national platform to showcase their work. On the whole, it helps the beauty and wellness sector.
