We had the exclusive opportunity to interview Ross Leibbrandt, APAC Regional MD of GHD at Nykaaland. Here are the excerpts.

What unique challenges and opportunities do you see in this big and diverse Indian market?

Well, firstly, I think it’s such an incredible market and GHD is delighted to launch into India, finally, after so many years of considering it. So, we’re delighted to be here with our partner, Nykaa. We’re delighted to finally come to the Indian professionals and the Indian consumers with fantastic GHD products. But you’re right, this is a challenging market. It’s a huge market. We’ve got a lot of communication to do. I think we’ve got an outstanding brand that is recognized globally with the professional community. You know, we’re a true professionally endorsed brand. And we now need to build the trust of the Indian stylists. But we’ve got a big job to do in terms of getting the professionals to try our products. Because we know once they try it, they’ll see the great technology in these products. They’ll see and they will feel that it delivers incredible results. The GHD Chronos Styler delivers 70% more shine. It’s got outstanding technology in that product with high definition responsive technology. And so, we want stylists to feel that. And that’s one of our biggest challenges now, getting the stylists to come and try our products. So, we invite all of your readers, all of your followers to come in and get your hands on GHD.

So, what is your strategy to approach these Indian hair stylists? Good. What strategies do you have in mind?

Well, we’ve got a true authentic endorsement from global stylists. So, we’ve got education platforms. We’ve got education training manuals. We’ve got guidance. We do latest tips and trends. We do professional influencer campaigns. We do professional education manuals. We need to bring that all to the market. So, we’re going to be rolling that out. India is a huge market with thousands, sorry, with hundreds of thousands of stylists. We need to get in front of them. So, it’s going to take time. But we’re going to utilize our partner, Nykaa. We will be on their professional social media pages, on their professional platforms, educating, and providing education for Indian stylists. We will be at the Indian shows and techniques.
