Himachal Pradesh recently presented their model Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for salon owners followed by a prohibition of direct communication between barbers and customers. They focus on stringent social distancing and safety measures inside salon spaces including face shields, triple-layered masks, gloves and head covers for barbers, sterilized equipment and 1.5 m distance between chairs. Further, no towels are permitted and only disposable materials are allowed inside the salons. Waiting areas and magazines are disallowed and AarogyaSetu app is a must for both barbers and customers. Only haircuts and colouring will start in the first phase of salons reopening, while shaving, beard trimming, waxing, facials and all other services resume later.
