Kuwait has laid down strict rules for salons, fitness centres, personal care, and health institutions to improve the health and safety standards. These rules aim to control infections and promote hygiene. A joint committee from the Ministries of Health and Commerce will oversee this matter, and violators will face severe penalties, including loss of business and license suspension.

According to the new regulations, people working in these organisations should have proper health certificates and regular medical checkups with updated vaccinations. Salons are expected to use only authorised cosmetic products with the expiry date mentioned. In addition, they should adhere to stringent sterilisation guidelines wherein all the tools and equipment are sterilized and cleaned well after each use and therapists are required to remove jewellery while performing any service.

As per the regulations, the reuse of razors is strictly banned, and each customer must have new, sterilized tools for every service. The government has also banned permanent tattoo devices and hair dyeing, tanning, and strong cosmetic treatments for children.

There should be certified lifeguards with proper training on CPR and other lifesaving techniques at wellness centres and pools. These areas should maintain chlorine-level safety protocols, too.

These rules and regulations are aimed at improving Kuwait’s health and safety standards across the wellness and personal care industry in alignment with global standards.
