Brazilian Fashion Influencer Dies After ‘Fox Eye’ Surgery Goes Wrong Brazilian fashion influencer Adair “Junior” Mendes Dutra Jr. has died at age 31 after complications from a cosmetic “fox eye” procedure, sending shockwaves through the beauty and influencer communities. What was the surgery about? Junior, an architect by training and style aficionado by passion, had amassed a sizable following for his fashion content, grooming tips, and openness about aesthetic treatments. Earlier this year, however, things turned dark. In March, he underwent a fox eye surgery—a trending procedure intended to lift the outer corners of the eyes for a sleek, elongated look. Within months, he began experiencing serious health issues. Controversy post-Dutra Jr’s surgery In September, he gave an interview in which he claimed the surgery, performed by a noted cosmetic surgeon, left him with a severe infection and facial trauma. Photos and videos he shared showed significant swelling, bruising, and distress. Despite medical visits and monitoring by dermatologists, his condition rapidly deteriorated. On October 3, he collapsed, suffered breathing difficulties, and was rushed to the hospital; he unfortunately could not be saved. Before his death, Junior had filed a police complaint against the surgeon, accusing him of illegal medical practice, fraud, and bodily harm. The surgeon publicly denied any responsibility, promising legal action against slanderous claims. His story raised urgent questions on the internet about the oversight of cosmetic procedures, the ethics of aesthetic marketing, and the pressures influencers face to perfect their image constantly.
