In a health department raid, spas, salons, and skincare centres in Belagavi (Belgaum) were raided for performing unauthorised skin surgeries, and strict action is going to be taken against those found guilty.

About 30 officials from the health department cracked down on such places on 21st August. The centres were found in the areas of Tilakwadi, Angol, RPD Cross, Shahu Nagar, Vadagav, Sadashiv Nagar, Raviwar Peth, Hindwadi, and Camp.

About 20 centres suddenly shut down as the news about the raid spread through social media. Authorities mentioned that there have been reports of many treatment centres opening up to treat skin diseases, but there have been complaints from patients that they have many side effects post-treatment. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan added that many pharmaceutical shops have also been involved in this scam. So, the health department is now on a mission to track these centres and prevent any more illegal skin care surgeries.

The department has already caught some of the culprits, and more than seven others have been given notices. All the centres that were raided had harmful appliances being used on clients, which the department has confiscated.

The department has asked everyone, especially women, to be aware and not fall for these scamsters and the products they are selling under the name of skincare.
